Porth Eirias

Porth Eirias

Things are starting to get busy in Rhos.  At the beginning of March the sun put in an appearance and it was starting to feel very spring-like. Unfortunately it has turned colder since although we have avoided the snow!

The kiosk below the Cayley prom (we call it Pete’s) has opened once again and is busy as usual – you can get a lovely cup of coffee and a snack there and sit and enjoy the view over the bay. He even provides a treat for the dog!

Further along the bay they are putting more sand on the beach (yes really!) in readiness for the grand opening of the new Porth Eirias complex which they are opening at the end of May. It is looking very smart!

There is a boat situated off the beach which is pumping the sand from the sea bed and onto the beach near the pier. I went to take a look the other day and it really has raised the beach so that it is level with the prom – quite impressive!

The annual Prom Day has been moved to coincide with this event so will not now be taking place on May Day bank holiday but will be a two day event on the 18th and 19th May. However there are plenty of other events taking place on May Day so it will still be a busy weekend.

Earlier this month we took a walk around Llyn Geirioneydd near Trefriw – the scenery is lovely and it is a pleasant place to idle away a few hours. The beauty of North Wales is that wherever you go (even to the supermarket) you can’t escape the wonderful scenery; either lovely  beaches or distant hills, often capped with snow and always the intoxicating fresh air.

Please take a look at the availability page if you want to fit in a short break, April and May are good times to get away.
